Wednesday, not going as planned

We got up early today to go to My Son.
But, unfortunately, Tiz had caught a tummy bug that dictated she stay very close to "plumbing".

Georgia and Emma got to have even more "sister time" so it wasn't that bad.
Tiz laid in bed all of the morning and I caught up on my TV shows.

The girls got back just before lunch and Tiz decided that she was well enough for walk even if that walk did not include a typical lunch.
We ended up over the other side of the river in a place that made Basil Fawlty look competent. It was funny.

This is what Tiz ordered. She had the broth and few noodles and Georgia and I ate the rest.

I ordered sticky rice cakes thinking they were a main meal type of dish.
After the female version of Manuelle left Georgia asked me why I had ordered the dish, but said no more. When my sticky rice cakes arrived and I tasted one she said
"That's why I asked you why you ordered the dish."
They were sweet deep fried sticky rice patties. Great dessert. Woeful main.
Kids can be really helpful, sort off.

Todays motorcycle oddity award was won by this example of inventiveness.
The kids would love it.

Above is one of the things we have seen a lot of here in Hoi An.
The clip shows a comparatively small procession.
These "cyclo trains" can reach way over 100 in number and they are almost exclusively fro Chinese tourists. You only get to see a few buses in this clip but some days there are over 50 of these 50 seat coaches parked on the outskirts of town.
From our conversations with the locals the Hoi An residents are realising that they are being overwhelmed and overrun by their northern neighbours.
I empathise with them.

As Georgia has headed back to HCMC tonight we went out for a final meal together.
She had booked a table at Morning Glory but when we got there we got what has become a typical Vietnamese stuff around which thankfully ended up with us sitting at table at the restaurants cooking school, over the road, which was the same place we were asked to leave two nights before.
Weird barely describes what happened between the moment we got to the door to go in and the moment we were led to the table were we ate our very nice dinner. As a non-local  you just have to accept that things happen in strange ways in this country and you will not always understand why or even like it.
That's just the way it is Sunshine, so suck it up.

Dinner ........ or some of the dishes that were eaten for dinner, ahead

My Larue beer bloomed into a Georgia!

Yet more morning glory to help Georgia achieve her 50 servings of the stuff per week!
Well, maybe not quite 50 but she REALLY loves the stuff.

Crispy pork and shrimp rice paper rolls

Pigs ear and papaya salad

We had a lot more than the dishes portrayed above,
as you can tell from the aftermath

After dinner we went back to the hotel to see Georgia off.

It's been great to have seen her for this past week and a bit but she has her own life to get back to.

Good bye Georgia. Take care and let's hope we see you again soon.
